BASS'2008 “RECITAL SECTION”
October 30 & 31, 2008

CNSMDP

The competition is open
to all bassists age 19 years or older.
Two “Edouard Nanny”
Prizes of 1500 € and 750 € respectively will be awarded. Candidates may perform
using solo or orchestral tuning.
Program:
1) First round:
a) A Sarabande of the
candidate’s choice from one of the 6 suites for violoncello by Bach [any edition] or the Sarabande from the
Suite im alten style by Fryba .
b) A first movement of a
sonata or concerto from the classical period repertoire (18th
century, beginning 19th century, Vanhal, Dittersdorf, Sperger,
Hoffmeister, Dragonetti….)
c) A piece or movement
for double bass of the candidate’s choice, original or transcription, duration
10 minutes maximum.
2) Second round :
a) - Two movements of a
sonata or concerto selected from the following:
Serge Lancen: Concerto
(Billaudot)
Damase: Concerto
(Billaudot)
Misek: Sonata n°2
Serge Lancen: Sonata
(Billaudot)
Hertl: Sonata
Gliere: any two of the
four pieces
b) One piece for
unaccompanied double bass selected from the following:
T. Hauta-aho: Cadenza
(Reimers)
J. F. Zbinden: Hommage
à J. S. Bach (Breitkopf Nr. 6554)
Hans Werner Henze: S.
Biagio 9 Agosto Ore 1207 [Schott]
François Rabbath: Ordis (Leduc)
OR Poucha Das (Liben) OR Iberique penisulaire (Liben)
c) The prize-winning
piece of the Bass' 2008 Composition Competition, for double bass alone.
A pianist will be
provided (rehearsal time will depend on the number of candidates
participating), but candidates may bring their own accompanist.
