5th MINI-BASS COMPETITION

FRANCE 

Section A1:  “beginners” age 7 to 10 years at time of registration (proof of age required).

Program: 

- Pascal Proust: Une histoire dramatique (Fertile Plaine editions).

- One piece of the candidate’s choice from the double-bass repertoire OR a free improvisation OR a composition by the candidate, duration 4 minutes maximum. The candidate may perform with another young artist. 

Section A2:  “beginners” age 11 to 14 years at time of registration (proof of age required)

Program:

- Francis Coiteux: Batifolage (Combre Editions).

- One piece of the candidate’s choice from the double bass repertoire OR a free improvisation OR a composition by the candidate, duration 4 minutes maximum. The candidate may perform with another young artist. 

Section B:  advanced players age 11 to 14 years at time of registration (proof of age required)

Program:

- Jean-Louis Martin: Iquade (Combre Editions)

- One piece of the candidate’s choice from the double-bass repertoire OR a free improvisation OR a composition by the candidate, duration 6 minutes maximum. The candidate may perform with another young artist. 

Section C:  advanced players age 15 to 18 years at the time of registration (proof of age required)

Program:

- Remy Yulzari: Errance (Combre Editions).

- One piece of the candidate’s choice from the double-bass repertoire OR a free improvisation OR a composition by the candidate, duration 12 minutes maximum. The candidate may perform with another young artist.

Deadline for registration: October 5, 2008. A pianist will be provided but candidates may perform with their own accompanist. Parents are responsible for their children: accommodation is at their own expense. A storage room will be available for instruments.

Candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of 20€ in Paris. This fee includes membership in the ABCDF for one year.
