Andreas Bennetzen was trained as a classical musician at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory and Funen Music Conservatory, with soloist class debut in 2003.

With a background in jazz from Bernadotte School and Aurehøj Gymnasium and a home where they listened to soul, hip-hop and reggae, Andreas Bennetzen is a many-facetted and popular musician who can both record with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra and the hip-hop rockers in Revoltage.

Andreas plays and records with the Royal Danish Orchestra, DR’s permanent ensembles, Efterklang, Clemens, Keld Heick, Johnny Stage, Revoltage, Poeten og Lillebror, Salem, Karl Bille, Claus Hempler, Trentemoller, Martin Hall, Pharfar, Glamorama and Bjørn Svin, among others.

Andreas is especially interested in electronic and improvised music, performance, and the interaction between improvised music, contact improvisation and interactive art. This has led to cooperative ventures with Pivot Performance, Ture Larsen and Copenhagen Art Ensemble, composer Kuno Kjærbye, choreographer Steen Koerner, Pipaluk Supernova, Karl Gillick (San Francisco, Supperclub), Gregers Kirkegaard(ISW) and Helle Fuglsang. Andreas is a member of the artist group Halfmachine and co-owner of MS Halfmachine, where he functions as arranger, house composer and music coordinator. In May 2008, he was responsible for launching the world’s largest u-boat built by amateurs, the UC3 Nautilus, an event that is documented in a film about the u-boat and its builder, Peter Madsen, for National Geographic channel (www.halfmachine.dk). www.andreasbennetzen.dk
